Social and cultural norms shape how we live. Some of them are beneficial, but many of them undermine daily wellbeing, productivity, and the ability to stay sharp, capable, and healthy for decades. We’ve come to believe that, as we age, our decline is guaranteed. David Neilsen challenges that belief and is living proof that there is a powerful path forward.
At only 80 years old David finished a five-year goal of running half-marathons in all 50 states and has embarked on a new career. His goal is to provide his audiences with specific steps and guidelines to enable them to experience the same physical vitality, mental resilience, and meaningful engagement that he still enjoys.

David Neilsen is a retired US Navy Commander and a retired college teacher with over 28 years of college level teaching experience. He ran his only marathon at the age of 55 and completed a five-year goal of running half marathons in every state in the union three days after his eightieth birthday. At eighty years old he has embarked on a totally new career. He continues to enjoy time with his wife of over 50 years, three children, and four grandchildren and continues to be active on many local boards and community groups.
While David knows he is ‘lucky,’ he also knows why. He is here to show audiences that they, too, can ‘have it all.’ He is on a mission to provide audiences with specific steps and guidelines to enable them live longer and better, and to understand that age is not a restriction to living a long and fulfilling life.
